Introduction
A complete rebuild with technology, design and SEO
Plastikoperationsforum (POF) is Sweden’s largest community for cosmetic procedures – with over 31,000+ members, 40,000+ before-and-after photos and thousands of surgery stories. When it was time to modernize the platform, we rebuilt it from the ground up – with new technology, new design and full focus on SEO, performance and growth.
The background
From Drupal forum to modern platform
For over 15 years, POF had been the natural meeting place for people considering or having undergone aesthetic procedures. Users shared their experiences, asked questions, uploaded photos and wrote detailed surgery stories. The platform also included profiles for surgeons and clinics who showcased their results, answered user questions and built their own brands.
But behind the scenes, there was an aging Drupal solution that had become heavy to maintain, slow and difficult to develop further. At the same time, the demands for user experience, content management and SEO had increased. A new foundation was needed – technically, visually and strategically.

The challenge
Migration, rebranding and scalability requirements
- Migrate tens of thousands of posts, photos, stories and profiles to a new framework – without losing structure, content, or SEO value
- Carry out a complete rebranding – while keeping the community feel and credibility with the target audience
- Ensure technical conditions for organic growth through fast load times, clean code and a modern frontend – a challenge that required following contemporary software engineering principles
- Build a flexible platform with support for surgeon profiles and filters, optimized for advertising, newsletters, retargeting and CRM
- Create a scalable design system that is consistent, easy to further develop and future-proof
The solution
Next.js, Laravel and a new design system
We rebuilt the entire platform in Next.js (frontend) and Laravel (backend) – a modern framework that delivers high performance, full control and strong SEO. Every page, component and content structure was optimized for fast loading, correct indexing and a strong user experience.
We also carried out a complete rebranding: from an outdated and noisy design to a calm, professional expression in beige, brown and neutral tones. At the same time, we created a new design system that ensures visual consistency and enables rapid future development.
